Acupuncture as we currently use it is at least 2300 years old and likely much older. The earliest evidence dates it to over 4500 years ago. The earliest medical text that defines it's use in a therapeutic setting is over 2000 years old. Each culture
that has come into contact with it has embraced it, refined its
application, and passed it on to the next generation. Modern medical research in animal and human physiology have confirmed many of the effects that the hundreds of previous generations were observing including pain relief, improved mood, better energy, enhanced healing response, and disease recovery. Since research begain in the 1970's several major medical groups including the World Health
Organization, The U.S. National Institute of Health, and the British
Medical Association have all published statements acknowledging it's
effectiveness and promise for many common complaints and conditions. Perhaps the best part is there are no side effects, only side benefits, and therefore nothing to lose in trying.
